Last night, Monday, May 10, The New Group opened their latest production of The Kid. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke. Schiff & Wright to Star in Broadway Revival of TALLEY'S FOLLY

Producers Phil Monat, T. Richard Fitzgerald and Randall L. Wreghitt announced today that TALLEY'S FOLLY, the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Lanford Wilson (Burn This, Fifth of July, Balm in Gilead) will have its first-ever Broadway revival as part of the 2010-2011 Season. Bobby Cannavale, Paul Giamatti, and Amy Ryan will star in the upcoming 'Win Win' film that will begin primary production March 15th in New York City, Variety is reporting. Giamatti plays plays a struggling attorney who moonlights as a high school wrestling coach. As previously reported, Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will lead the cast of The Kid for The New Group. Based on the book by Dan Savage entitled The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant, the new musical The Kid features music by Andy Monroe, book by Michael Zam and lyrics by Jack Lechner. Today it has been announced that the first preview has moved from April 10 to Friday, April 16. Official Opening is now Monday, May 10 at 7:00 (moved from May 6, announced previously). Mr. Weitz returns to Second Stage Theatre, where his plays Privilege and Show People premiered in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Directed by Peter DuBois, who staged Second Stage's acclaimed production of Becky Shaw, TRUST will begin previews on Friday, July 23 at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd street) and officially open on Thursday, August 12. Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline may headline a production of Theresa Rebeck's POOR BEHAVIOR on Broadway in the fall of this year. BWW Reviews: HURLYBURLY Tackles 80's Hollywood at The Ringwald Theatre

I have never stepped foot into The Ringwald Theatre and on top of that I have admittedly never heard about the play/movie Hurlyburly. However, when I received an invitation to see the show I whole heartedly obliged. Considering that I have never seen the movie or any other production of this play, I really wasn't sure what to expect. Typically, I have some sort of background of the at least the synopsis, but with this show/theatre I really had nothing to go off of, so it was a completely new experience for me. (more...)
