Tickets on sale today for three plays in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre of the Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, this fall. The Los Angeles premiere of Bess Wohl's darkly comic American Hero, a Pasadena Playhouse Guest Production from IAMA Theatre Company, directed by James Eckhouse performs September 15 to October 31 (press opening September 21).  Next, The USC School of Dramatic Arts and Pasadena Playhouse continue their exciting partnership by presenting two productions for the School's MFA in Acting program at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre: Detroit 67 by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Gregg T. Daniel November 8-10, and The Receptionist by Adam Bock, directed by Andi Chapman November 16-17.

Michael Feinstein and the Pasadena POPS close out their popular outdoor summer concert series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum on Saturday, September 8 with Broadway Goes to the Movies. The POPS season finale will provide a quintessential Feinstein experience with some of Broadway's greatest performers recreating songs from hit shows that traveled from 42nd St. to Hollywood. "This program is going to celebrate all the different musical aspects of Broadway and Hollywood," says Feinstein, who has put together a program spanning the Broadway canon from My Fair Lady to The Sound of Music to Jersey Boys. Highlights include "The Impossible Dream," "Can't Take My Eyes off of You," and "There's No Business Like Show Business," among many other beloved showtunes.

Principal Pops Conductor Michael Feinstein opens the 2018 Pasadena POPS Sierra Summer Concert Series on Saturday, June 23rd with That's Entertainment: Gershwin to Sondheim. Link TV, a national independent public satellite television network, announced today new episodes of its series THE CHALLENGERS, a series of dynamic speeches and interviews by uncommon people whose voices are challenging perspectives and offering unique insights into global issues. The series is a result of a partnership with San Francisco-based The Commonwealth Club of California. Notable on-air guests making their Link TV network premieres in these episodes of THE CHALLENGERS include author Amy Chua, Harvard lecturer Yascha Mounk, Berkeley professor Robert Reich and political commentator Sally Kohn. The beauty of Malibu will be explored in On Location in Malibu 2018: Paintings by the California Art Club at Pepperdine University's Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art beginning Saturday, May 19 until Sunday, July 29. A special reception to meet the artists will be held Saturday, May 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) continues its intimate "Jazz Club" performances with jazz trumpeter Amir ElSaffar and his Two Rivers Ensemble on Thursday, April 26 at 8:00pm. ElSaffar was born to an American mother and an Iraqi father. After studying classical music in the U.S. and Iraqi maqam music in Baghdad, he forged his own path by mixing ornaments and microtones from Arab music with melodies and harmonies from the West. His unique fusion has won him accolades from DownBeat magazine and rowdy ovations at the Newport Jazz Festival.

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra's annual Pops concert is coming up on March 18th, 4pm, at the Collins Center for the Arts. This year, it's all about Oz! The Wonderful Music of Oz, produced by Spot-On Entertainment, will feature hits from Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and more, sung by a talented cast featuring some of Broadway's best and brightest.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces five NNPN Rolling World Premieres (RWP): Ready Steady Yeti Go by David Jacobi, Ripe Frenzy by Jennifer Barclay, Apples in Winter by Jennifer Fawcett, The Mermaid Hour by David Valdes Greenwood, and Heartland by Gabriel Jason Dean. The five plays will receive a total of 17 NNPN RWP productions, with each play seeing at least three distinct productions in a 12-month period.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. The playwright and philosopher Alexander Matthews presents the debut of his two witty social dramas at Covent Garden's Tristan Bates Theatre in spring 2018. 'Screaming Secrets' and 'Glass Roots' will have back-to-back runs and will form the first Alexander Matthews Season in the UK.
