Ensemble Theatre's 2014 season was launched on Aug 19 at the theatre with over 200 actors, directors, playwrights and group bookers in attendance. First up for 2014 is PROOF by David Auburn, a captivating character study about maths and the fine line between madness and genius directed by Sandra Bates with Adriano Cappelletta, Catherine McGraffin, Matilda Ridgway and Michael Ross.

Broadway, Film and TV phenomenon Kristin Chenoweth's first solo concerts at the Hollywood Bowl was, as expected, nothing short of spectacular. Delivering a highly-entertaining, must-see event filled with plenty of laughs, many touching moments, and lots of opportunities to showcase her unique talents, the pixie-sized Emmy and Tony Award-winning musical superstar did not disappoint in her two-night engagement backed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The Gallery Players of Park Slope, Brooklyn are hosting the 16th Annual Black Box New Play Festival. The Festival premieres 14 new plays, varying from 10 minute to full length productions, over the course of four weekends. Each weekend will contain a different program of plays, beginning May 30th and running to June 23rd. Performances will take place at 8:00pm on Thursday, Today and Saturday, as well as 3:00pm on Sunday.

Reviewing mindless fun can be dangerous terrain.  In the first half of the last century magnificent wits like P.G. Wodehouse and George S. Kaufman wrote the books for mindlessly fun musical comedies showcasing scores by the likes of Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart and the Gershwins that invented a new sophistication in American music and lyrics.  The plots may have been silly, but the mindless fun of 1920s and 30s (Of Thee I Sing, Anything Goes, The Boys From Syracuse for starters) was often literate and inventive.

The cast will be announced soon. Don't Dress For Dinner will begin previews on March 30 and open officially on April 26, 2012 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street). This will be a limited engagement through June 17, 2012.

Playwright Raimondo Cortese Awarded The Patrick White Playwrights’ Fellowship

The first ever recipient of The Patrick White Playwrights' Fellowship was announced at a special event at Sydney Theatre Company on Friday 20 May at 8pm. Playwright Raimondo Cortese was honoured with the $25,000 year-long Fellowship, a new position for an established playwright that will see him participate in a range of activities at STC including leading playwriting workshops and participating in a mentoring programme for two emerging playwrights.
