UMC will present an exploratory reading of select scenes and songs from the new musical The Bergen Letters on Monday, April 2nd at 6pm at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The cast will include Traci Bair, Nick Corley (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, You Can't Take It with You), Rachel de Benedet (Catch Me If You Can, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Becky Gulsvig (Beautiful, School of Rock, Legally Blonde), Aaron Ramey (The Visit, Bridges of Madison County), Danny Rutigliano (Holiday Inn, Born Yesterday) and Morgan Weed (American Psycho, First Wives Club). The Bergen Letters is an original musical telling the story of a closeted female college professor in the 1950s, who, though married with a child, finds herself falling for a young female grad student.

The Huntington Theatre Company presents the brilliant classic comedy Tartuffe by Moli re, directed by Huntington Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter DuBois (Sunday in the Park with George), translated by Ranjit Bolt, and featuring actor and comedianBrett Gelman (Murray Bauman on the upcoming season of Netflix's Stranger Things and Dinner with Brett Gelman specials on Adult Swim) as Tartuffe and Tony Award winner Frank Wood (Side Man and August Osage County on Broadway and HBO's Flight of the Conchords ) as Orgon. Performances run from November 10 through December 10, 2017 at the Avenue of the Arts / Huntington Avenue Theatre.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of celebrated playwright, actor and novelist Sam Shepard, who passed away on Thursday, July 27th at age 73. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in his memory on Wednesday, August 2nd, at exactly 7:45pm for one minute.

Theater Company completes its successful 2016- 2017 season with Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, a drama that scored a rare trifecta, winning a Tony, a Drama Desk Award, and the 2008 Pulitzer Prize of Drama. Marin Theatre Company opens its 50th Anniversary Season with Tracy Letts' August: Osage County. The play debuted at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, IL, moving directly to Broadway in 2007. Following its TONY® Award-winning NYC run, the production began its US National Tour in 2009. It has since enjoyed successful runs at theatres around the world, however MTC's production will be one of the first professional productions in the Bay Area since the Broadway tour in 2009.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the complete cast for Erika Sheffer's The Fundamentals, a smart and searing look at America's corporate culture through the story of a Manhattan hotel maid with higher aspirations. Directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov, the cast features ensemble members Alana Arenas (Millie), Caroline Neff (Stellan) and Alan Wilder (Abe) with Audrey Francis(Eliza) and Armando Riesco (Lorenzo). Peyankov and Sheffer last collaborated on Steppenwolf's 2014 Chicago premiere of Russian Transport, which also featured ensemble member Alan Wilder. Our Town, one of the greatest American plays written by Thornton Wilder, the three-time Pulitzer prize-winning playwright and novelist will be directed by David Cromer, MacArthur Foundation 'genius' grant recipient and director of KC Rep's 2009 production of The Glass Menagerie which received national and local critical acclaim. This co-production with UMKC Theatre will feature redesigned seating at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus.
