Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents the Kenny Barron Quintet for two performances on November 3, 2018 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, the Los Angeles Times calls Barron "one of the top jazz pianists in the world" and Jazz Weekly calls him "The most lyrical piano player of our time." For his return to the Center's Jazz Series, Barron brings his quintet, which includes Mike Rodriguez, trumpet; Dayna Stephens, tenor saxophone; Kiyoshi Kitagawa, bass; and Jonathan Blake, drums.

 Orchestra of St. Luke's joins the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys for At a Solemn Musick, an October 18 program led by Daniel Hyde with soloists Benjamin Sheen, organ, Sara Cutler, harp and Hyesang Park, soprano in which two classics of the organ concerto repertoire,Poulenc's Concerto en Sol mineur and Barber's Toccata Festiva, will showcase Saint Thomas Church's new Irene D. and William R. Miller Chancel Organ in memory of John Scott.

Following a successful restaging in South Africa and Singapore, Associate Director Dan Kutner brings the revival of Hal Prince's original West End and Broadway staging of EVITA to Australia with a predominantly Australian cast for Sydney and later Melbourne audiences.

The Paul Taylor Dance Foundation announced the death yesterday of legendary choreographer Paul Taylor in Manhattan on August 29.

In April 2018, the New World Symphony joined The Sphinx Organization and the League of American Orchestras in announcing their new partnership, the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS), which is a field-wide initiative with the long-term goal of increasing diversity in American orchestras. Supported by a four-year, $1.8 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alliance offers a holistic and personalized array of support to Black and Latinx musicians to develop their audition skills, increase their participation in auditions, and ultimately, increase their representation in orchestras.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of four Honorees who will receive the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements, and a special Honors distinction for a work of art and its co-creators. Recipients to be honored at the 41st annual national celebration of the arts are: singer and actress Cher, composer and pianist Philip Glass, Country music entertainer Reba McEntire, and jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. This year, the co-creators of Hamilton-writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and music director Alex Lacamoire-will receive a unique Kennedy Center Honors as trailblazing creators of a transformative work that defies category.

Paying homage to one of the most influential groups of all time, NBC is celebrating Sweden's most popular export with 'ABBA: Thank You for the Music, An All-Star Tribute.' The two-hour special, set to air in December, will showcase specially invited artists performing classic songs made famous by ABBA, including 'Dancing Queen', 'Mamma Mia', The Winner Takes It All' and 'Take A Chance On Me'.

Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington announces its 2018/19 Season, presenting 24 visionary artists and ensembles that are pushing artistic boundaries, blending genres and redefining the meaning of creative mastery. Sam Mendes directs The Lehman Trilogy, a co-production with Neal Street Productions, cast includes Adam Godley, Ben Miles and Simon Russell Beale. Full casting is announced for the award winning An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, transferring to the National Theatre in a co-production with the Orange Tree Theatre. The NT will tour to 30 venues in 27 towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, for a total of 83 playing weeks over the next year. Rufus Norris' Macbeth to tour to 18 venues across the UK and Ireland from autumn 2018. War Horse returns to the National Theatre marking the centenary of Armistice Day.

An evening of song and swing awaits local music lovers as Philadelphia Theatre Company presents "The Summer Club: A Big Band Valentine's Day." Cupid shoots his arrow down music's memory lane this February 14th as audiences are transported to an era when clubs were hot, everyone dressed up and martinis came straight up. Take the Lead Dance Project will have everyone swinging in the aisles with free dance lessons before the show. Mark Moraghan, Stephanie Dooley and Alan Stocks have been confirmed to join the cast of Lennon's Banjo, joining fellow actors Eric Potts, Jake Abraham, Lynn Francis and Roy Carruthers in a comedy play that is already making headlines around the world. Performance Space New York (formerly Performance Space 122) presents the East Village Series, its first semi-annual themed series, and the first program curated by the institution's new Executive Artistic Director, Jenny Schlenzka. This presentation of works from some of today's most radical performers and multidisciplinary artists resituates the institution in newly revamped spaces, designed by Deborah Berke Partners, in 122 Community Center (150 First Avenue, at East 9th Street), where Performance Space 122 was founded, and where it operated until it moved out in 2011 for the building renovation. The series contemplates the past, present, and future of the organization and its neighborhood.

The Kitchen presents 'Julius Eastman: That Which Is Fundamental,' an interdisciplinary project of performances and a two-part exhibition, curated by artist Tiona Nekkia McCloden and Bowerbird founder Dustin Hurt, that comprises the most expansive demonstration yet of Julius Eastman's rousing creative output, January 19 - February 10, 2018.
