British writer-director Alan Parker has passed away at the age of 76

Comedy legend and The Dick Van Dyke Show creator Carl Reiner has passed away at 98. His assistant Judy Nagy confirmed to Variety that he died of natural causes on Monday night at his home in Beverly Hills.

Craft Recordings is thrilled to announce the first-ever vinyl release of Joni Mitchell's best-selling 2007 album, Shine. For its first production of Vincenzo Bellini's 1831 masterwork, NORMA, in nearly 40 years, Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) brings back the international star it introduced to the U.S. just over two years ago. Elena Stikhina makes her debut in one of opera's most technically demanding roles a?' a powerful Druid priestess whose affair with the general of a warring Roman faction brings personal grief and despair. The Russian-born soprano made her American debut in BLO's 2017 production of Tosca. Her subsequent national and international acclaim includes a lauded 2018 Metropolitan Opera debut in Puccini's Il Trittico. Best known for its star-making aria a?oeCasta Diva,a?? BLO presents Bellini's dramatic bel canto opera for five performances from March 13-22 at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at BLO.org.

Four-time Obie Award-winner Caryl Churchill is the pre-eminent writer of feminist themes involving sexual politics, abuses of power and gender equality. There's no better metaphor of these themes than the witch hunts of 17th century England which provide the backstory of Vinegar Tom, an allegory that rings so true today. The play, which includes a modern score by Diana Lawrence sung by a Greek chorus dressed as street walkers, bridges time to illustrate the continuity of women's struggle against shaming, disempowerment and inequality. In director Ariel Craft's skillful hands, Churchill's sad satire blazes anew with a remarkable cast and technical crew that conjure both history and the present in vivid detail.

My fall quarter at SCAD just ended last week and now I'm off until the beginning of January for my winter break. One of the classes I took as a dramatic writing major was playwriting and I got to thinking about some of my favorite plays that I would love to share with people and hopefully they can experience for themselves one day. Park International Center for Music (Park ICM) announced today that their 2019-2020 Season would kick off in September with a special performance on stage in Helzberg Hall. We're kicking off our second season with THE performance not to be missed! Showcasing our best graduates, students and faculty, we will perform an intimate salon entirely on stage in the 'living room' of Helzberg Hall. We're literally bringing our best and brightest to showcase what we've accomplished in 16 short years, said Dr. Roger Kugler, Park ICM Director. Called Stanislav & Friends, the benefit concert helps underwrite student scholarships at Park International Center for Music. This premiere event will feature Park ICM's biggest stars including Behzod Abduraimov, Kenny Broberg, Igor Khukhua, Dilshod Narzillaev, Maria Ioudenitch, the Park Trio and more.

The new exhibition Bob Gruen: Rock Seen opens at the Morris Museum, featuring a selection of 72 works by one of rock & roll's best-known and most respected photographers. Active in the rock scene for over fifty years, Bob Gruen (b. 1945, New York) has shot some of the most memorable images of rock music's greatest artists. His photographic approach is distinguished by the ability to capture performers, both onstage and off, through candid images that convey the feeling of the moment. The show will be on view from June 21 November 10, 2019.
