In a recent feature with US Weekly, music legend Cher revealed that she has her sights set on a part with theatrical origins. 'I have watched the 1958 film 'Auntie Mame', with Rosalind Russell, at least 100 times. I would love to play that part in a remake.' The film was based on the Patrick Dennis novel and 1956 play of the same title, which was later turned into the 1966 musical- MAME. Here's to hoping that the diva will play the role on Broadway!
Andrea McArdle to Take on 'Auntie Mame' Twice This Spring!

According to an Equity casting notice, Broadway veteran Andrea McArdle will take on the title role in MAME twice this spring. The show will play at Pennsylvania's Media Theatre (4/17- 5/19) and Bucks County Playhouse (5/22-6/9).

Tilda Swinton Working on Film Remake of AUNTIE MAME

According to the New York Times, Oscar winner Tilda Swinton is currently collaborating with director Luca Guadagnino to create a film a remake of 'Auntie Mame.' Swinton woud play the title role in the movie.

Based on the 1955 best-selling novel by Patrick Dennis and the 1956 hit Broadway play Auntie Mame, MAME will preview October 9, open October 16 and run through December 21 at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Two of the most recognized women in Chicago theater will star in this production of the Tony Award winning musical. Jeff Award winner Barbara Robertson, who recently starred as 'Madame Morrible' in the Chicago production of WICKED, will portray 'Mame' through November 16. November 19 through the end of the run will feature one of Chicago's most beloved actors Kat Taylor in the role. Taylor has starred in the National Tours of LES MISERABLES as 'Fantine' and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Artistic Director William Osetek will direct.
