Santa Fe Opera's General Director Charles MacKay and General Director Designate Robert Meya announced today the repertory, principal singers, conductors, directors, and designers for the company's 63rd season in 2019, along with updates to the 2018 season, which opens June 29. Broadway Sacramento President/C.E.O. Richard Lewis announced today that the name of the nonprofit arts organization he heads, formerly known as California Musical Theatre, has been changed to Broadway Sacramento. Lewis said the summer series of shows that take place in the Wells Fargo Pavilion, formerly known as Sacramento Music Circus, will now be called Broadway At Music Circus; and the series of touring Broadway productions that take place in the Community Center Theater, formerly known as Broadway Sacramento, will now be called Broadway On Tour.

Forced Entertainment has today announced a brand-new production, Out of Order, premiering in Frankfurt in April this year. Also today it has been announced that the company are to become a Southbank Centre Associate Company and return to the venue after more than a decade, having last performed there in 2007 with And On The Thousandth Night as part of SPILL Festival, and with seminal piece Bloody Mess at Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown. In December 2018 they will present their first work as an associate company, a new version of Artistic Director Tim Etchells' That Night Follows Day. As a new Southbank Centre associate company, Forced Entertainment will work with the multi arts organisation to research, develop and premiere work.

Goodman Theatre announces Jo Cattell as the recipient of the 2017/2018 Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship, an honor reserved for early-career Chicago-based directors. Cattell will gain complete access to the artistic process at the Goodman, including the opportunity to assist on a Goodman production-from early research and design through the casting and rehearsal process to the opening. The annual fellowship was established in 2002 to honor the memory and artistry of Goodman Associate Artistic Director Michael Maggio (1951 - 2000) who directed a total of 22 productions at the Goodman and more than 60 productions around the country.
Bond Street Theatre (BST) is launching the second year of its programming in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, working with refugee and migrant populations to use theatre as an information-sharing and advocacy tool. Collaborating with Asylum Access Malaysia, Masakini Theatre, and the Rohingya Women's Development Network, BST and partners work to translate critical information regarding healthcare, education and legal rights into illustrative, mobile plays that can be performed by and for refugees.

The new exhibition Elijah Pierce: An American Journey at the Canton Museum of Art (CMA) celebrates the artwork of one of the most important self-taught, American folk artists of the 20th century: Elijah Pierce (1892 1984). Pierce was a prolific African American wood carver known for his brightly painted sculptural panels illustrating biblical stories, moral lessons, historical events, and images from popular culture a landscape of wood-carved art that is unlike any in America. This exhibit focuses on 39 major works. Featured in the exhibit is Pierce's most ambitious carving, Book of Wood (1932), consisting of seven panels with 33 scenes illustrating the years Christ lived on the earth, as well as works depicting segregation, the Vietnam War, Watergate, and Civil Rights, among others. This exhibition is on view November 24, 2017 - March 4, 2018 with a free public reception on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

From its Broadway Premiere in 1951, Rogers and Hammerstein's adaptation of Margaret Landon's novel, Anna and the King of Siam, and through many revivals and an award winning movie, it has been enjoyed by generation after generation. As the current tour returns to the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, BWW had a chance to chat with Heather Botts who will be playing the role of Anna while Laura Michelle Kelly is taking a few weeks off.

The beloved musical that features 1950s' high school romance and rock 'n' roll will cruise across the Starlight stage like Greased Lightnin' for six performances, opening on Friday night, Sept. 8 and continuing through Sept. 14.
