Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director at Park International Center for Music, announced Friday that Park ICM is offering not one, but two Valentines concerts. “If you are a classical music lover, we have a veritable buffet to choose from during Valentine's week. You can snuggle up with your loved one in the intimate 1900 Building on Saturday with Ben and Lolita and then enjoy all that downtown Kansas City has to offer at The Folly Theater on Wednesday with our magnificent soloists and the Chamber Orchestra,” exclaimed Ioudenitch. “What more could you wish for to celebrate Valentine's Day?”

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) announced today that Edo de Waart has been appointed principal guest conductor. The renowned conductor begins his new role – a first for the organization – in the 2019-20 season conducting the orchestra for three to four weeks a year. The initial agreement is for three years. De Waart has been a featured guest conductor with SDSO during the past five seasons.

Experiential Orchestra announces plans to create the world-premiere commercial recording of British composer Dame Ethel Smyth's final composition The Prison. The orchestra hopes that creating a top-quality recording of this recently rediscovered composition dating from the very end of her career will increase Smyth's standing as a composer world-wide.

The Adelphi Orchestra will feature Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and defiantly triumphant Korngold Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 35. Randall Goosby's performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto will be the centerpiece in a program entitled "From Vienna with Love" which will also feature Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus and concludes with the beautiful Symphony no 2 in D major by Brahms. The concert,  conducted by Richard Owen on Sunday October 27th at 7PM will take place at  NYC's historic Good Shepherd - Faith Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Lincoln Center. The National Philharmonic 2018-2019 season continues celebrating Leonard Bernstein's Centennial with 'Lenny's Playlist,' a specially curated 'soundtrack' of some of Bernstein's favorite compositions on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore's Concert Hall. The concert, performed by the National Philharmonic and conducted by Maestro Piotr Gajewski, features internationally acclaimed Bulgarian violinist Bella Hristova, winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant. 'Lenny's Playlist' will feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's timeless Overture to the Magic Flute, Samuel Barber's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 in D minor. Bernstein debuted each of these masterpieces, but it may be Shostakovich's Symphony that is one of his most memorable: Early in 1959, Bernstein conducted Symphony No. 5 in Moscow in the presence of Shostakovich himself, who was reportedly very happy with Bernstein's fiercely energetic finale. This performance led to Bernstein's iconic recording of the symphony with the New York Philharmonic in October 1959. There will be a members-only encore question-and-answer after the concerts on Saturday and Sunday, and a musician meet-and-greet, during which young people and their families can explore orchestral instruments, on Sunday from 2-2:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $34-$84 and are free for young people age 7-17. The San Diego Symphony's annual January Festival returns in its fourth year entitled, Hearing the Future. Throughout the festival, which runs January 9 - 27, 2019, the organization explores and celebrates the power of music and art to give voice to the evolution and revolutions in the world at large. The festival, curated by composer-conductor Matthew Aucoin (b.1990), will shine a spotlight on the music being made today - from composers and performers who are still in high school, to a 90-year-old jazz master. The festival will also explore the way music from the past - from Haydn, Beethoven and Berlioz to the creators of African-American spirituals - engaged with the most urgent issues of their time.

This special concert brings together three outstanding performers of Indian music and provides an opportunity to hear the shehnai (oboe), an instrument rarely heard in the Indian classical repertoire today. Featured are Mita Nag, a master of improvisation, who comes from a famous family of musicians, including her father, veteran sitarist Manilal Nag, and grandfather, master musician Gokul Nag; the brilliant shehnai player Hassan Haider, son and disciple of the famed maestro Ali Ahmed Hussain, who has performed and toured internationally with his father and other notable artists; and Subhen Chatterjee, a powerful tabla player and disciple of Swapan Chaudhuri, who has appeared with many of India's major artists.

Powerhouse international conductor Valery Gergiev will conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra from St. Petersburg and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday, October 24 at 8 p.m., at the Jacobs Music Center's Copley Symphony Hall. The rare concert will feature the Mariinsky Orchestra performing Glinka's Russlan and Ludmilla; the San Diego Symphony performing Borodin's In the Steppes of Central Asia; and Maestro Gergiev will conduct the combined orchestras performing together Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 Leningrad.

Olden Yolk is a New York-based group whose penchant for dystopian folk, abstract poeticism, and motorik rhythms have enveloped them in a sound uniquely of-the-moment yet simultaneously time-tested. The project is led by songwriters, vocalists, and multi-instrumentalists Shane Butler and Caity Shaffer. Their debut full-length, Trouble in Mind, ruminates on questions surrounding love, self-doubt, and locating autonomy amidst burgeoning unrest. Fort Worth Opera (FWOpera) announced today the casts and creative teams for the 2019 Festival season, including the world premiere of composer-librettist Rachel J. Peters's delightfully wicked opera, Companionship. Adapted from the short story by internationally bestselling author Arthur Phillips, this delicious dark comedy about an obsession with dough, mirrors our modern world, where what we consume becomes all-consuming. Selected as a winner of the 2018 FWOpera Frontiers showcase, the work will receive a fully staged production next spring at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, as part of FWOpera's alternative venue series, Opera Unbound.

The San Diego Symphony has announced its complete lineup for its Jazz @ The Jacobs and City Lights series for the 2018-19 season.
