The Lyric Hammersmith today announces full casting for its Christmas show, Aladdin. The Lyric's annual panto returns when Aladdin flies into Hammersmith on his magic carpet for some festive fun in true Lyric style. The principal cast, all of whom are making Met role debuts, also includes Hibla Gerzmava as Donna Anna, Malin Bystromas Donna Elvira, Serena Malfi as Zerlina, Paul Appleby as Don Ottavio, Adam Plachetka as Leporello, Matthew Rose as Masetto, andKwangchul Youn as the Commendatore. The October 22 matinee, with this cast, will be transmitted worldwide as part of the 11th season of the Met's Live in HD series, which now reaches more than 2,000 movie theaters in 70 countries around the world.

Lawrence Edelson, Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga, announced the program for the 2016 Summer Festival, which will run from May 28 through July 17, 2016. The season will feature three new productions at The Spa Little Theater in Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, New York, along with a diverse slate of recitals and concerts at multiple locations in Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, and Albany.

A widowed New York college professor, Gene, is in a long distance relationship with a woman in California. He wants to marry and move to California, where his girlfriend has her medical practice and is raising her children. Gene's mother is sympathetic although aware of the toll it could take on his father. Family tensions arise as his father disowned his sister for marrying a Jewish man. When his mother suddenly dies, Gene's plans are thrown into disarray. He has lived in the shadow of his towering father, who is expecting him to stay and watch over him. Gene must decide for himself if he'll stay to care for his father or finally move on with his life.

Claude-Michel Schonberg has been named as the next Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre, based at St Catherine's College at the University of Oxford.  He will succeed Simon Russell Beale in October 2016.

This will be the first solo museum exhibition in the US to explore the creative vision of design collaborators Job Smeets (Belgian, b. 1970) and Nynke Tynagel (Dutch, b. 1977), who established their atelier Studio Job in Belgium in 2000.
