After years of trying to live down the family name, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (grandson of the infamous Victor) is summoned back to Transylvania by his grandfather's will to continue the work.
Beth Leavel, Michele Ragusa and Kelly Sullivan become the new leading ladies of Mel Brooks' award-winning Young Frankenstein this summer at the Hilton Theatre (213 W 42nd St), joining original cast members Roger Bart, Shuler Hensley, Fred Applegate and Christopher Fitzgerald. Kelly Sullivan will assume the role of Inga on Tuesday, July 8th; Tony winner Beth Leavel (Drowsy Chaperone) will become Frau Blucher on Tuesday, July 22nd and Michele Ragusa (Adrift in Macao) takes over the role of Elizabeth on Tuesday, August 5th.

According to a casting notice, Mel Brooks' new stage musical Young Frankenstein, based on his classic movie comedy, will indeed open on Broadway this fall.
Peter Boyle, the versatile character actor who was known for his turn in Young Frankenstein and for his more recent work on the sitcom 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' died on December 12th, 2006 at New York Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 71
