The bookless show uses Joel's song lyrics and Tharp's choreography to tell the story of five friends and lovers across three decades through love, war and loss. There is no dialogue and all songs are performed by the pianist-singer, who sings non-stop and heads an on-stage band during the show.

The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

Expanded availability includes performances from December 27, 2014 through January 4, 2015. Based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, Elf has a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Elf is directed by Eric Ankrim and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. Elf runs eight times a week at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater through January 4, 2015. Madison Square Garden Entertainment announced today that music icon Billy Joel has added a record-tying 12th show at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, December 18 as part of the Time Warner Cable Concert Series. The performance is part of Joel's franchise run at The World's Most Famous Arena. In 2006, Joel set a Madison Square Garden record by becoming the first solo artist to sell out twelve consecutive shows on a single tour, a feat memorialized by the first-time raising of a banner dedicated to a musical performer.
According to published reports, Tony winner Twyla Tharp will receive the 2013 Capezio Dance Award.
