Porchlight Music Theatre has announced the Chicago musical premiere of O.Henry's holiday masterpiece, The Gifts of the Magi, book by Mark St. Germain, music by Randy Courts and lyrics by Randy Courts and Mark St. Germain, November 17 - December 23 at Stage 773, 1225 West Belmont Ave. Porchlight Music theatre's production is directed by Mark Lococo with music direction by Elizabeth Doran and choreography by Brenda Didier.

The Old Globe is currently presenting the World Premiere of Some Lovers, a new musical with book and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award winner Steven Sater and music by Academy and Grammy Award-winning legend Burt Bacharach. Directed by Will Frears with music supervision by Lon Hoyt and choreography by Denis Jones, Some Lovers will run through Dec. 31 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Nov. 26 - Dec. 6. Opening night is Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park. Gian Carlo Menotti's immeasurebly beautiful 'Amahl and the Night Visitors' is the poignant story of an 8 year old crippled boy, played by 8 year old Ryan Dever of Exeter, who lives alone with his mother and is visited by three Kings. The mother is exquisitely played by Jessica Squire of Portsmouth.

The Final Act Ensemble, a Des Moines Community Playhouse troupe that performs classic and original radio plays, will present 'The Gift of the Magi' and 'A Christmas Carol' at the Des Moines Community Playhouse, 7:00 PM, Monday, Dec. 17. Tickets for the hour-long show are $5 for all ages and will be sold at the door. The performance is recommended for ages eight years old and up.

Michael Weber, Artistic Director of Porchlight Music Theatre, announces Porchlight's 18th season. The season includes the Chicago premiere of A Class Act, September 1 - October 14; a new to Chicago holiday production of The Gifts of the Magi, November 17 - December 30 and two classics of the American musical canon: Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, February 2 - March 17, 2013 and Pal Joey, April 20 - June 2, 2013. Weber described Porchlight's 2012 - 2013 18th season as "Continuing the path we began in 2011, by presenting Chicago's audiences with incomparable productions that not only entertain but also challenge audiences to see music theatre in a new way." "Early Bird" Season Membership Renewals are on sale March 6 - April 1. New Season Memberships go on sale Monday, April 2 and single tickets to the 2012-2013 season go on sale Monday, April 23.
