BroadwayWorld Presents The 2009 Tony Award Nominees: 'Best Musical'

During the week of April 27- May 1, 2009, top-rated morning program 'Live with Regis and Kelly' gave the show's nationwide TV audience a vicarious thrill when America's favorite co-hosts jumped into the roles of some of the best Broadway characters during 'On Broadway Week.'

DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd. are pleased to announce that the ?big fat hit?* Broadway production of SHREK THE MUSICAL with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, directed by Jason Moore, will launch a National Tour in Chicago. SHREK THE MUSICAL will play the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.) for a limited engagement beginning in June 2010.

The Drama League (Jano Herbosch, President; Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director) proudly announces nominations for the 2008-09 Drama League Awards, to be awarded at The 75th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on Friday, May 15, 2009 (noon) in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (1535 Broadway at 46th Street). The event will be co-hosted by Jeremy Irons (Impressionism) and Cynthia Nixon (Distracted).

Based on a recommendation by the OCC Executive Committee, Special Achievement Awards will be given to David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish for their performances in 'Billy Elliot the Musical' and an Outstanding Ensemble Performance Award will be bestowed to the full cast of 'The Norman Conquests' (Amelia Bullmore, Jessica Hynes, Stephen Mangan, Ben Miles, Paul Ritter and Amanda Root).

Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum and Allan S. Gordon have announced that Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, and Gwen Stewart will reprise the roles they originated on Broadway in RENT: The Broadway Tour when it visits Denver's Buell Theatre June 9-14. Tickets are now on sale.

Leading entertainment advertising agency SpotCo has been awarded three Internet Advertising Awards: Best Arts Integrated ad campaign for Shrek the Musical, Best Arts Rich media online ad for Avenue Q, and Outstanding Rich media online ad for [title of show]. The Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) Awards are produced by the Web Marketing Association to honor excellence in online advertising. IAC 2009 winners include work from agencies such as Oglivy, BBDO, and Agency.com.
