The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today a BRAZILIAN SAGA: CARLOS DIEGUES' CINEMATIC ADVENTURES, a comprehensive survey of the groundbreaking filmmaker's work, from April 12 - 18. A pioneer of the revolutionary Cinema Novo movement, which made film an integral part of the cultural and sociopolitical struggles facing Brazil in the 60's. Diegues' now-iconic films had a historical emphasis and were among the first to bring Afro-Brazilian culture to life on film.
'Cabaret Emigré' by Sophia Romma, originally scheduled for November 2 to 18, now opens tonight, November 7 and will add performances November 11, 13 and 14 to make up for lost shows due to Hurricane Sandy. Following a successful season which brought Long Beach Opera (LBO) increased ticket sales, a 20% growth in its subscriber base, and an unprecedented number of sold out performances, LBO announces its plans for 2012. The ambitious 'Absurd-Bizarre- Surreal' season will include a double bill of one-acts and three full-length operas. Commenting on his selections, LBO's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek says, 'I like to provide a diverse look into the world of rarely seen, little known masterworks. Each of the 2012 operas fits that category. Where most companies cozy up to composers of the 19th century, in the coming season, LBO will highlight composers of the 20th century (Francis Poulenc, Bohuslav Martinu, Astor Piazzolla) and the 21st (Osvaldo Golijov, Michael Nyman).

Through rare artifacts from his stage and screen career, objects from his personal collection, and his own photography, MCNY offers a unique look at New York through Grey's eyes as well as a visual retrospective of his career. A private opening night reception will take place this evening, which also happens to be Grey's 79th birthday. It will open to the public tomorrow, and remain on display through Sunday, August 14.

On January 3, 2011, Cabaret's original Sally Bowles, Jill Haworth passed away at age 65 of what was reported to be natural causes. In celebration of her life, Michael Gregg Michaud composed the following tribute to the late star. Michaud was a good friend of the actress and author of the biography of Sal Mineo, who was Haworth's lover for many years.
Jane Alexander and Stockard Channing will appear in Sir David Hare's witty and elegant 'The Breath of Life' at Westport Country Playhouse, September 29 through October 17. Mark Lamos, named artistic director in February 2009 at the historic theater in Westport, Connecticut, will direct. 'The Breath of Life' will be the final production in the Playhouse's six-play 2009 season.

Tennessee Williams? landmark play A Streetcar Named Desire will conclude the Mainstage summer season from August 6 through 29. The Mainstage fall show will be announced at a later date.
On Stage 2, receiving its world premiere is Mark St. Germain?s Freud?s Last Session from June 10 through 28. Glen Berger?s hit Off-Broadway play Underneath the Lintel will play on Stage 2 from July 8 though 26.
Music arranger Angela Morley, who won Emmys for arranging two of Julie Andrews television specials has died at 84 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She's said to have passed away from complications of a fall and a subsequent heart attack.
The three-time Emmy winner, also received Oscar nominations for adaptaing the songs in the musicals 'The Little Prince' and 'The Slipper and the Rose'
