IT'S ALIVE! From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation The Producers comes this monster new musical comedy.
A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks' classic comedy masterpiece, the story follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that's Fronkensteen) as he attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Together with his oddly shaped and endearing helper Igor (that's Eye-gor), his curvaceous lab assistant Inga, and in spite of his incredibly self-involved madcap fianc Elizabeth, Frankenstein succeeds in creating a monster -- but not without scary and quite often hilarious complications.
With such memorable tunes as "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' On The Ritz," The New MEL BROOKS Musical YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainmentand the only place you'll witness a singing and dancing laboratory experiment in the largest tuxedo ever made.

The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein, a hilarious comedy from the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award-winning smash The Producers, debuts in Minnesota at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre, Feb. 9-14, 2010.
With the sometimes-high cost of theatre tickets, an evening out can be beyond the means of young theatergoers. Luckily, The Hennepin Theatre Trust-the non-profit organization that owns and operates Minneapolis' State, Orpheum, and Pantages Theatres and Hennepin Stages-is aware of this issue and seeking to do something about it. This fall, the Trust created a new initiative called The Scene to make theatre and other events in their performance spaces more affordable, accessible, and approachable for patrons age 21 to 39, as well as to provide a network of other people in the area with similar interests.

When Mel Brooks' classic Young Frankenstein makes its way to the Fox Theatre stage in its exciting new musical form, a familiar face to fans of Brooks' previous work will be leading the way (and flipping the switches, laughing maniacally, and Puttin on the Ritz). That face belongs to Roger Bart, familiar to many for his Tony nominated role of Carmen Ghia (and later Leo Bloom) in Mel Brooks' critically acclaimed hit The Producers in addition to numerous award winning theatrical, film and television roles. Roger sat down with me recently to talk a little about his career, working with Mel Brooks and the exciting and 'Abby Normal' thrill it is to be bringing this fresh new musical to Atlanta audiences.
