On July 21, 2017, Santa Fe Opera presented Ron Daniels' production of Gaetano Donizetti's bel canto work, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR. Beginning with a storm and several huge rainbows, the open sides of Santa Fe Opera's Crosby Theatre allowed the audience to watch the sun set as the orchestra played the opera's overture. Based on Sir Walter Scott's novel, THE BRIDE OF LAMMERMOOR, the opera tells the story of a young woman who loses her reason when forced to marry a man she does not love.

Steep Theatre will introduce another emerging British playwright to Chicago with the U.S. Premiere of Cordelia Lynn's Lela & Co., directed by Robin Witt, featuring Cruz Gonzalez-Cadel and Chris Chmelik. This production will mark Lynn's U.S. debut, but Chicago audiences are no stranger to the work of director Robin Witt. Witt, a Steep Company Member, has been at the helm of some of the ensemble's most memorable shows, including Simon Stephens' Wastwater, Motortown, Pornography, and Harper Regan; Dennis Kelly's Love and Money; and Alistair McDowall's Brilliant Adventures. She won the 2015 and 2016 Jeff Award for Best Director for Griffin Theatre's Flare Path and London Wall.

Casting is complete for SUMMER SHORTS 2017, produced by Throughline Artists at 59E59 Theaters. SUMMER SHORTS 2017 begins on Friday, July 21 and runs through Saturday, September 2.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the full cast for AS YOU LIKE IT by William Shakespeare, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle. The production will run at Bay Street Theater from August 8 - September 3. Featuring five productions, the season includes the new musical comedy 'Senior Moments', a holiday musical 'A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol', the thriller/comedy '39 Steps', the comedy 'The Red Velvet Cake War', and Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical 'State Fair'. This marks HCCT's 32nd year.
