Back to the Future: The Musical is based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, with a book by Bob Gale and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, including songs from the film such as The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode. The story follows Marty McFly, a rock 'n' roll teenager accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by Dr. Emmett Brown, who must ensure his high school-aged parents fall in love before he can return to 1985. The production is directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, with set and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting by Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound by Gareth Owen, and choreography by Chris Bailey. The show previously played an 18-month run at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway and a nearly five-year run in London's West End, where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
