Showtunes! Theatre Company continues their season with the rarely seen Flora, the Red Menace in concert January 14th and 15th at the Kirkland Performance Center.

Broadway fans will remember this 1965 show as the first Broadway collaboration of John Kander and Fred Ebb, who would go on to later success with hits like Chicago, Cabaret, and Woman of the Year. It also marked the Broadway debut of Liza Minnelli, who won a Leading Actress Tony Award for her performance as Flora Meszaros. In 1987, the Vineyard Theatre revived the show off-Broadway with a rewritten book and score.

The cast features Eric Ankrim, Charissa Bertels, Ryan Childers, Craig Doescher, Kristen Hurst, Jason Kappus, Angie Louise, Marcus Wolland, and Jessica Skerritt as Flora. Scot Charles Anderson directs and choreographs, with musical direction by Mark Rabe.

Showtunes! Theatre Company specializes in concert versions of lesser-known musicals, often works by classic Broadway composers and lyricists. Their season concludes in the spring with Comden and Green's On the Twentieth Century.
