Seattle Mayoral Forum to Address Arts, Arts Education & Urban Design Today

By:

A Seattle Mayoral Forum will address critical issues facing our next mayor in arts, arts education and urban planning tonight, September 30 at the Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center, formerly Intiman Theatre, 2nd Ave. W. and Mercer St. Candidates Ed Murray and Mike McGinn will be in attendance, moderated by Jim Kelly, Executive Director of 4Culture.

The purpose is to share the candidates views and priorities on these issues and more. Discussion topics range from upzoning in South Lake Union to creation of a Parks District, the future of Sound Transit and the City's commitment to fostering arts education and arts vitality in city neighborhoods. Kelly will ask the candidates about small lot development in single family neighborhoods and their views on Waterfront development.

The forum is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their questions for the candidates to address. The format includes opening/closing statements, moderator and audience questions. RSVP to: info@alliedartsofseattle.org.

Allied Arts was founded in 1954 under the name of "The Beer and Culture Society". As we approach our 60th Anniversary in 2014, we continue our outreach and advocacy throughout the Northwest Region. Our Beer & Culture events have long provided an informal setting for groups of energetic, public-spirited citizens to engage in free-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The outcome of which may ultimately lead to civic action.

The League of Women Voters has been an influential voice on issues such as election reform, ethics in leadership, transportation, education, land use, civil rights and more for 90 years. All League action is based upon positions developed through consensus discussions by members after a thorough study of the issues.
