Seattle Center Teen Tix Announces 2nd Annual Teeny Award Winners!

Seattle Center Teen Tix announces the winners of its 2nd annual Teeny Awards, an initiative that aims to empower young audiences, honor youth-friendly programming choices and acknowledge organizations where young audience members feel particularly valued and welcomed.

Teen Tix surprised the winning organizations with singing telegrams, delivered on July 6 by the Teeny Awards Delivery Squad, who joyously informed awardees in vibrant song and dance. The awards are given by Teen Tix's Teen Steering Committee based on Teen Tix member voting in 20 categories.

The list of this year's awardees includes some of the Seattle area's most venerable large arts organizations, as well as severAl Smaller professional arts groups:

Best Selling Show of 2009 - 2010: Roméo et Juliette at Pacific Northwest Ballet
Best Art Exhibit of 2009 - 2010: Polaroids: Mapplethorpe at Henry Art Gallery
Best Dance Performance of 2009 - 2010: 3 by Dove at Pacific Northwest Ballet
Best Film of 2009 - 2010: tie! The Yes Men Save the World at Northwest Film Forum and Sci-Fi on Blu-Ray Series at SIFF Cinema
Best Play or Musical of 2009 - 2010: Speech & Debate at Seattle Repertory Theatre
Best Music Performance of 2009 - 2010: Sound Off! 2010 at EMP
Best "Other" Show of 2009 - 2010: Laser Michael Jackson at Seattle Laser Dome

Best Date Venue: Pacific Science Center's IMAX & Laser Dome
Best Box Office Experience: Seattle Children's Theatre

Seattle Center Teen Tix, an arts access program for teenagers, partners with local arts organizations to make it possible for its members to purchase $5.00 day-of admissions. Now in its sixth year of operation, Teen Tix provides Seattle area teenagers, ages 13 to 19, with access to 37 arts organizations in an effort to engage young people in Seattle's vibrant cultural scene.
