SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM Runs Now thru 2/22 at BPA

By:

Don't miss SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, the Tony Award-winning musical opening at Bainbridge Performing Arts in mid February. The sophistication, wit, insight, heart and genius of Broadway's most innovative and influential artist are at the center of this tribute to composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Enjoy a dazzling array of some of Sondheim's best-known songs featuring numbers from landmark shows that revolutionized the musical theatre with their masterful craft and astounding creativity.

While conceived as a fundraiser for a small theater company to display both the talents of three performers and the music of Sondheim, BPA's version of the production showcases a larger cast and places the show squarely in context - an engagement party for a young couple. Director / Musical Director Josh Anderson says "Sondheim regularly wrestles with the ideas of love, marriage, and aging, and in this new context, his brilliance shines. Die-hard fans and novices alike will find a new understanding of this classic material."

Leading a stellar cast, including Kylee Gano, Jasmine Joshua, Emily Kight, Barbara Hume, Paula Elliot, Dan Engelhard, Mike Loudon, James Sgambati, and Brian Pucheu, Anderson is thrilled to bring the production to Bainbridge, saying, "Sondheim is the unrivaled master of lyrical wit and musical wisdom, and in this new presentation of his material, Sondheim's guiding themes of love, marriage, aging, and the artistic process are superbly illustrated." He continues, "BPA audience members have come to expect sublime music and heartfelt comedy, and in this show, they will get both and then some!"
