Next 50 Debate Watch Party and Candidate Mingle Set for 10/16

Join in the U.S. presidential and Washington State gubernatorial debates at a free, interactive viewing party, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Seattle Center Armory. Next 50 One Stop Ballot Shop: Debate Watch Party and Candidate Mingle, part of Next 50 Civic Action month presented in partnership with CityClub and Seattle Works, invites voters to weigh in with their own perspectives, meet local candidates and initiative representatives, and talk with other engaged citizens as they decide how to vote in November.

The free event takes advantage of a convergence of televised live debates, shown on the big Armory screen. The evening kicks off with the presidential debate, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., moderated by Candy Crowley, chief political correspondent for CNN. Gubernatorial candidates Jay Inslee and Rob McKenna discuss their views on our state's future, 8 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The intent of One Stop Ballot Shop is to allow voters an additional – and highly interactive – avenue in which to learn about and make important voting decisions. They do not need to rely solely on the election material each candidate and initiative provides. Party participants may discuss the pros and cons of issues and candidates while they enjoy the beer and wine garden and new Armory food choices.

One Stop Ballot Shop is part of Next 50 Civic Action month, the final of six months of Next 50 activities exploring keys areas of regional leadership, influence and development. Doors open at 5:30pm.
