MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT Returns to Seattle at Richard Hugo House, Now thru 8/17

By:

Tickets are now on sale for Vox Fabuli Puppet's production of MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT, returning to the Seattle stage today, August 9-17 at Richard Hugo House.

MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT is a giddy puppet musical re-imagining of the cult classic MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE (one of the worst movies ever made). The film's story, of a family vacation gone horribly wrong, combines with the backstage drama of a movie shoot gone horribly wrong to tell the bizarre tale of fertilizer salesman-turned-film director Harold P. Warren. With song and dance numbers. And puppets.

"The story starts with Hal and his actors getting stranded at Valley Lodge because they get lost on their way to a filming location, and goes from there," said MANOS writer/producer Rachel Jackson. "Backstage shenanigans and the inherent mayhem of puppets inevitably intrude and run everything off the rails."

Tickets will cost $20 in advance and $24 at the door with a $15 discount for students/seniors/military/TPS Members and are available at http://puppetmanos.brownpapertickets.com.

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the 2013 remount of MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT will be filmed and released on DVD. The project was backed by 768 people for a total of $13,452, 134% of the original goal. Pressing Pictures LLC will be in charge of the DVD production, filming during the second weekend and at the wrap party.

PUPPET MANOS had a successful debut in 2011, first at Seattle's Odd Duck Studio in April and then at Bumbershoot. A mash-up between the Making of MANOS, the movie itself, and a whooole lot of pop culture, many of the scenes (and all of the songs) from the movie are intact, complete with lovingly recreated bad acting and technical glitches. Add extended girl fights and an ill-fated run-in with an evil cult, and you have MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT. It's a wicked fun time for Manos "fans" and newbies alike.

MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT features puppeteers: Nik Doner, Sann Hall, Jana Hutchison, Rachel Jackson, Paul B. Velasquez and Raymond L. Williams.

Despite the presence of puppets, the show is not recommended for patrons under the age of 14. (adult language, bizarre sexual situations)

Rachel Jackson's Vox Fabuli Puppets specializes in twisting the familiar into dark and humorous shapes. Rachel has been puppeteering on various Seattle stages since 2008, where her work has been called "mad and masterful" by The Seattle Times. The mind behind the 2011 hit MANOS - THE HANDS OF FELT, she more recently brought her talented hands to TEAM OF HEROES: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, WHEDONESQUE BURLESQUE and AUDREY & NELSON: A PUPPET SEX MUSICAL.
