KIDSTAGE Summer Independent produces ALL SHOOK UP, running July 17-24, 2010 at Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in downtown Issaquah.

KIDSTAGE's Summer Independent production is a professionally mentored performance program, unique to Village Theatre. Most Summer Independent students have prior experience with Village Theatre, be it behind the scenes or onstage, in KIDSTAGE or the Mainstage, however having KIDSTAGE specific experience is not mandatory. This program allows its students the opportunity to really take the reins in every aspect of producing this full-scale musical, from start to finish. From performance to directing, and behind the scenes jobs like stage management and set design to marketing, these students do it all.

This Summer, ALL SHOOK UP will be directed by KIDSTAGE veteran Kelsey Thorgalsen. "I chose this show because I love the message it leaves you with," Thorgalsen commented. "So far this KIDSTAGE experience has been quite the undertaking. We have been planning since last fall and it is great to finally see things up on their feet." With three Mainstage shows under her belt, ALL SHOOK UP marks Kelsey's 15th behind-the-scenes KIDSTAGE production. She and her production team have created a unique world for this show in order to truly make it their own. Using costuming to show transitions and different moods, and utilizing some fresh choreography, ala Elvis Presley, ALL SHOOK UP will be an exciting KIDTAGE caper!

ALL SHOOK UP will feature 30 cast members, between the ages of 13-20, from the Auburn, Bellevue, Issaquah, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, North Bend, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, and Seattle areas. For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact Michelle Sanders, Communications Manager at (425) 392-1942 x124 or at msanders@villagetheatre.org. Pre-production photos will be available on the Village Theatre website after June 28, 2010.

SYNOPSIS:
ALL SHOOK UP mixes a little bit of Shakespeare with a whole lot of "The King", and guarantees that your entire family will be jumpin' out of their blue suede shoes! Shakespeare's Twelfth Night is transported to Small Town, USA circa 1955. When "a rolling roustabout with a song in his soul and an eye for the ladies" rambles into town on his motorcycle, guitar slung over the leather jacket on his back, everyone eventually responds with new attitudes and welcome results. Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley.
