GreenStage announces its 21st season of free theater.

Outdoor Shakespeare in the Park
July 10th – August 15th
Their summer shows this year will be a gender-swapped production of The Comedy of Errors directed by company member Ryan Higgins and a straight-forward production of the rarely produced, incredibly intense King John directed by well-known Seattle director Teresa Thuman. Both shows run from July 10th through August 15th.

The venues on this summer’s tour include seven Seattle parks – Volunteer Park, Discovery Park, Woodland Park, Warren G. Magnuson Park, Seward Park, Lincoln Park, and Camp Long - as well as Dottie Harper Park in Burien, Lynndale Park in Lynnwood, Fall City Park in Fall City, and Redmond City Hall.

The complete schedule is still being finalized at this time. Please visit www.greenstage.org for updates, or to sign up for the mailing list to receive up to date information.

Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival
July 11 and 12, 2009 at Volunteer Park
GreenStage is proud to present the 9th Annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival! Two days of outdoor performances by local companies. Complete schedule will be available soon at www.outdoortheater.org. Last year’s Festival included 9 plays produced by 7 companies. Started in 2001 as a cooperative venture between GreenStage, Theater Schmeater, and Wooden O Theatre, SOTF has become the launching pad of outdoor theater in Seattle.

Halloween Special
This 21st Season brings a very special fall surprise
In the fall of 2009 we will be restaging our 1995 "Hard Bard" production of Titus Andronicus at a to be announced indoor venue. Just in time for Halloween, and directed by longtime GreenStage company member Tony Driscoll.

Originally founded in Pierce County as Shakespeare Northwest, the company moved to Seattle in 1994 and changed its name to GreenStage. The plays in the 2009 season will be the 51st and 52nd productions mounted by the company.

Having the distinction of being the area’s longest running Shakespeare Company; GreenStage has produced 34 of the 38 plays in Shakespeare’s cannon, as well as producing several new works in the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival and the company’s successful American Classics Series of plays at Magnuson Park.

The mission of GreenStage is to inspire audiences to engage in live theatre as part of their recreation. The company always performs for free, collecting voluntary donations after performances.
