Billy Elliot o Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around Billy, a motherless British boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984-85 UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. Hall's screenplay was inspired in part by A. J. Cronin's 1935 novel about a miners' strike, The Stars Look Down, to which the musical's opening song pays homage.

After producing Off-Broadway's first ancient Chinese drama 'Where Is My Maple Town,' Genevieve Yiming Wang directs'99 Women,' a new play written by Genevieve Flaven. It opens at Glicker-Milstein Theatre on November 1st, 2018. The play incorporates three different languages (Mandarin-Chinese, French, and English), all of which will be featured in this production.

On 15 February, 2018, Thriller Live - a spectacular concert-style show that celebrates Michael Jackson's enduring musical legacy and groundbreaking dance moves - will overtake Jersey Boys to become the 14th longest running musical in West End history. On 19 August, 2018 the show will celebrate its 4000th West End performance.

Mesa Arts Center today announced the selection of 20 proposals for the City of Mesa's first prototyping festival - Main Street Prototyping Festival, slated for Nov. 17 and 18, 2017. Artists, architects, designers, students, makers, urban planners and others have been selected to create temporary projects that activate public space and engage the community toward enhancing connectivity and vibrancy in downtown Mesa. Planned prototypes include concepts for gathering places, virtual reality experiences, structures that offer space for interaction, performances, places to play and share in art making, and ways for passersby to offer feedback about their community. Each project will be allocated $1,000-$3,000 for design, fabrication and project management.

Naughty, funny, dark and romantic: Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents a revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, the off-Broadway hit by Eric Blau and Mort Shuman that introduced American audiences to the Belgian singer-songwriter known as the "Bob Dylan of France." Director Dan Fishbach and musical director Anthony Lucca helm Jacques Brel… for a July 1 opening at the Odyssey, where it will continue through Aug. 27.
