Bachelors of Fine Arts is a dark musical comedy inspired by co-writers Riley Elton McCarthy and Hope Johansen's experiences studying at an elite New York drama school, roasting institutions, ambition, and tradition through a pop, country-tinged score of original songs and sharp satire. When Holly and Rory meet at a prestigious conservatoire, they bond over cheap wine and expensive trauma, but shifting loyalties escalate into a cycle of blacklisting, bullying, and fixation that institutions are unwilling to confront. The show is written by Riley Elton McCarthy and Hope Johansen, directed by Foxy, and performed by McCarthy and Johansen. Previews take place at the Old Red Lion, London on 2–3 August before the Edinburgh run.
