EDINBURGH 2018: Review: JONNY WOO'S ALL STAR BREXIT CABARET, Assembly

EDINBURGH 2018: Review: JONNY WOO'S ALL STAR BREXIT CABARET, Assembly Unsurprisingly Brexit is a hot topic at this year's festival. However, I don't know if anybody is tackling the subject with as much sparkle as Jonny Woo. Teaming up with Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer The Opera) they are looking at British politics in a very camp way.

The backing singers take on roles of different politicans throughout the show. Songs featured include "Leavers Lullaby" and "Ballot Box Ballad". One other track "The Great C**ting Debate" manages to make swearing an artform.

Although Woo is a Remainer, he offers a balanced look at Brexit- mainly offering up opinions from his Dad who voted to leave the EU. The backing singers (Sooz Kempner, Adam Perchard and Kevin Davies) add in comments about how they can't get a GP appointment because of the foreigners and how they want to "take their country back".

Jonny Woo's All-Star Brexit Cabaret is a very well written and entertaining hour. The vocals are top notch and this show certainly gives a bit of sparkle to a grim subject.
