Love Birds is a new musical which is written by Robert Sherman. Sherman is the son and nephew of the Academy Award winning Sherman brothers who composed the likes of Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Jungle Book to name but a few.

It is 1923, the age of Vaudeville and theatre producer Armitage Shanks has a bit of a problem. His star act, a feathered caruso called Balthazar, has stormed (or more accurately flounced) offstage during a show and he has no act to perform and bills to pay.

The other stars of the theatre are a penguin quartet who are unfortunately down to a trio for this performance due to a poorly penguin. One of their numbers is inspired by a certain nanny by the name of Mary - although they are quick to add that due to copyright infringement they are not the same penguins as featured in a popular Disney movie!

Everything about this musical production screams "West End transfer". The storyline is brilliant, the songs are excellent and the costumes are stunning. The vocal performances from the cast are extremely high quality and the choreography is faultless. This is a musical that belongs on a much bigger stage!
