Eddie Izzard: Believe Me Tour Comes To Van Wezel

On Thursday, October 11 at 8:00 PM, iconic British comedian Eddie Izzard makes his Sarasota premiere on the Van Wezel stage for his Believe Me Tour, based on his best-selling book by the same name. Funny and emotional, the show highlights Izzard's characteristic fascination with the ridiculous, and reveals the man behind the stand-up in a unique, unforgettable performance.
Izzard's first book, Believe Me, was just chosen by Bill Gates as one of the "5 Amazing Books I Read This Year". Released on June 13, 2017, Believe Me is a New York Times Best Seller in which he reflects on a childhood marked by the loss of his mother, boarding school and alternative sexuality, as well as a life in comedy, film, politics, running and philanthropy.
"If you've never seen Eddie perform his stand-up routine, you're missing out. Like Monty Python, he often draws from real historical figures, such as Shakespeare or Charlemagne, and comes up with hilarious riffs, many of them improvised. And like other super talented comedians like Robin Williams and Tom Hanks, he's also great in serious dramatic roles. (He recently appeared in the movie Victoria and Abdul, with Dame Judi Dench.) He even talks semi-seriously about running for Parliament." - Bill Gates
"Full of pathos, honesty and boomerang hippos, Believe Me is a wonderful show which gives a fascinating glimpse into what drives this remarkable man." - Manchester Evening News
Tickets are $22-$62. Purchase at VanWezel.org, the Box Office or by calling 941-953-3368.
