Asolo Rep proudly presents its seventh annual documentary theatre project: FACES OF CHANGE. FACES OF CHANGE collects stories, personal experiences, and interviews from community members of diverse backgrounds, which are assembled in an original script. The project culminates in free public readings followed by post-show discussions. Asolo Rep will host two public readings in the Cook Theatre on April 7 and 8 at 7pm. There will also be additional public readings in the community.

FACES OF CHANGE draws from the specific themes and plays of Asolo Rep's mainstage season each year in order to identify a topic to investigate from different points of view. This season the project is inspired by Emmy Award-winner Bekah Brunstetter's THE CAKE, running April 3 - 28. Stories will not only showcase LGBT unions, but other "non-traditional" modern marriages, including those with racial and religious differences and blended families.

"One of the goals of the FACES OF CHANGE project is to build community," said Ria Cooper, Asolo Rep's Community Engagement Specialist. "We use theatre to share stories. Connecting with others whose opinions and perspective we may not share helps us make meaning of the world around us."

In addition to the public performances in the Cook Theatre, there will also be readings at Fogartyville Peace Education & Action Center on April 9 at 7pm, at Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota on April 10 at 7pm, at Church of Trinity MCC on April 13 at 7pm, and at Friendship Centers on April 17 at 6pm.

"The intimate encounters with shared narratives feel seismic in their ability to create a collective impact and build a culture that fosters relationships, trust and respect," said 2019 FACES OF CHANGE participant/reader Robert Rogers. "For me FACES OF CHANGE feels far-reaching."

Admission is free; however, tickets are required. Tickets for all performances are available by visiting Asolo Rep's Box Office, located in Asolo Rep's lobby, 5555 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, by visiting www.asolorep.org/faces or calling 941.351.8000 or 800.361.8388.
Faces of Change is made possible, in part, with support from the Koski Family Foundation.
