Erasing the gap between the 1930s and today, the Carolina Chocolate Drops bring a modern sizzle to the proud African-American string band tradition. Raw fiddles, powerful voices, banjos, jugs and vernacular percussion come together for a “rollicking, revelatory” (The New York Times), down-home revival. This Grammy-winning quartet revels in the currents running through blues, country and bluegrass. While paying homage to the old-timey music of the Carolinas’ southern Piedmont region, their brash, youthful energy keeps their live shows exciting and unexpected. The Carolina Chocolate Drops will play old favorites and new selections from their forthcoming album.
