Kelrik is pleased to announce its return to San Luis Obispo. After a summer away, Artistic Director Erik Austin realized "there's no place like home," and has returned Kelrik Productions to the Central Coast. Now in its sixth year in San Luis Obispo, Kelrik is pleased to announce its new season of the finest in theatrical "edutainment" for our community.

Kelrik's primary goal is to provide the highest quality children's/family theater featuring local talent. This year the company will present new works with the Central Coast premiere of Pinkalicious, based on the popular storybook, as well as revive old favorites that uphold the standards and visions of Kelrik: quality "edutainment," by which we mean theater which both educates and entertains. Myths, parables and fables have long been used to teach. Kelrik builds on this tradition, creating audience-pleasing productions which provide food for thought -- as well as being great fun! We will also offer after-school workshops for actors of all ages and abilities throughout the year.

As a company, Kelrik is dedicated to the growth of our actors, theater-goers, and the artistic medium in which they all connect. Our shows remain true to the stories on which they are based, often incorporating songs and scenes removed by other directors. Each features a talented cast of local actors, first-rate production values, and opportunities for audience interaction and participation.

In addition to the four productions of the "IMAGINE" season at Unity, Kelrik will offer a full-scale production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Spanos Theatre (Performing Arts Center) in July. The 2011 "IMAGINE" season marks our sixth year in San Luis Obispo and our fifth scheduled season at Unity.
