The Phantom has left the Paris Opera House to haunt and delight San Diego with opera, ballet, and classical music. Long before “The Phantom of the Opera” was a hit musical, it was a gothic French novel which inspired many movies. Six years ago, it inspired sisters Tiffany and Rebekah Brannan to write a 4-act ballet of the story. Now, Cinballera Entertainment presents a classical artistic take on this beloved story, “Phantom of the Ballopera.” First through classical songs and opera excerpts and then through scenes from their original classical ballet, this show tells the story of Erique, a dramatic and daring former leading man, who risks everything to give young chorus girl Christine a chance in the spotlight. After a violent attack from the jealous leading lady Carlotta leaves him disfigured, he becomes the masked Phantom! Tiffany and Rebekah, Cinballera’s founders, trade off as Christine and Carlotta in the opera and ballet.
