InnerMission Productions has announced the third production of its 2017-18 season, "Ordinary Days." This San Diego premiere will be InnerMission's first musical. It was written by Adam Gwon and will be directed by Matthew E. Graber, who is making his San Diego directorial debut.

"Ordinary Days" begins on Thursday, July 27, 2018 and plays through Saturday, August 12, 2018 with a press opening on Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. In the Black Box space at Diversionary Theatre.

When Deb loses her most precious possession--the notes to her graduate thesis--she unwittingly starts a chain of events that turns the ordinary days of four New Yorkers into something extraordinary. Told through a series of intricately connected songs and vignettes, "Ordinary Days" is an original musical about growing up and enjoying the view.

"We are thrilled that our first musical will be the San Diego premier of 'Ordinary Days.' It's a story about four lost souls who are brought together by circumstances in the chaos of New York City. It's a story of finding love and connection despite the odds," siad Carla Nell, artistic director.

"The gorgeous music and lyrics are uplifting, funny, and moving. I know our audiences will be thrilled by this beautiful show, because making beautiful things is more important now than ever," said Kym Pappas, co-artistic director.

The ensemble cast of this San Diego premiere features Jamie Channell Guzman as the high-strung "Deb", Patrick Mayuyu as the lovable optimist "Warren", Kym Pappas as the conflicted "Claire", and Brent Roberts as the romantic "Jason".

The creative team includes Carla Nell and Kym Pappas (Producers), Hazel Friedman (Musical Director and Accompanist), James M. McCullock (Scenic and Lighting Designer), Jamie Channell Guzman (Costume Designer), Alex Guzman (Sound Designer), Kevin Six (Properties Designer), and Monika Lee (Stage Manager).

Matthew E. Graber (Director): Matthew brings 17 years of directing experience to this project. Matt served as Producing Artistic Director of The Shawnee Summer Theatre, Artistic Director of Arden Theatre Company of Indianapolis, and Producing Director of The Blank Theatre. Some of his favorite directing credits include "Sherlock Holmes the Final Adventure," "Godspell," "Two MuF**kers Some Sex and a Crab," "Our Town" and "My Dinner with a Zombie." Matt currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for San Diego Repertory Theatre. He possesses and MBA/MFA in Theatre Management from CSULB.

InnerMission Productions began in 2005 with a single goal in mind; bring new and diverse stories to the stage in order to powerfully engage the local community. InnerMission believes in the restorative power of theatre. Theatre is a tool to illuminate the darkest parts of our human existence. Each show is an opportunity to create a family, to tackle prickly issues - bullying, sexuality, PTSD - and to provide a safe space to discover answers to complex questions.

Carla Nell and Kym Pappas helm InnerMission Productions, and through their passion and combined efforts they have fostered a connection with their audience for the past decade. Carla and Kym want to do more than open a dialogue, they want to change the nature of the conversation.

We come to the theatre to confront our greatest fears, prejudices and beliefs. We walk away empowered, inspired and called upon to make a difference in our community through the power of storytelling and the art of theatre. InnerMission Productions is a family of people committed to tackling social justice, creating equality and supporting new work outside of the walls of conformity.
