Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a first-time fundraising event for Diversionary Theatre and is one of the Theatre's 25th Anniversary Year special events. Dinners are hosted at private homes throughout the city; hosts invite their friends to their home for dinner and guests "pay" for their dinner with a donation to Diversionary. Dinner hosts and their guests then come together for Grand Finale at a private home in Coronado.

Committee chair Alison McManus has already lined up ten dinner hosts. "Each host is choosing their own dinner theme," said McManus. "It will be very fun evening of food and celebration." Some of the dinner hosts and their themes include: Victoria Person and Margo Smolan (Absolutely Fabulous [the TV Show]); Peggy Walkush & Jan Tisdale (Low Country Shrimp Boil); Seth Krosner & Phil Johnson (Spain and Morocco); Jonathan Dunn-Rankin (Let's Go Cruising); Vicki Estrada & Lynda Arnett (Mexican); and Doug Bradley and Rikk Valdivia (a multiple-course dinner with matched wine pairings). Other hosts and themes will be announced.

The grand finale will take place at the "strategically green" and accessible home of Camille Davidson & Maureen Steiner in Coronado. The house has been featured in Coronado Magazine and San Diego Home/Garden magazine in August, 2010. As everyone comes together, there will be desserts from Babycakes, coffee from Starbucks, champagne, music and dancing.

A couple of the dinners have space available for community members, and tickets can be purchased for those dinners through Diversionary's box office. In addition, the grand finale is open to everyone from the community for a donation of $25. For information, call the box office at 619.220.0097 or visit the website www.diversionary.org.

Diversionary Theatre was started in 1986. The mission of the theatre is to produce plays with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender themes that portray characters in their complexity and diversity both historically and contemporarily. All proceeds from Guess Who's Coming to Dinner support the artistic programs of the Theatre.

Community members who are interested in hosting a dinner or donating food or drink to the grand finale can contact Dan Kirsch, Diversionary's Executive & Artistic Director, at 619.220.6830.
