West Valley Arts (WVA) presents 'She Loves Me', the first production of their inaugural season, running from January 21 - February 13, 2021 at the West Valley Performing Arts Center (formerly Harman Theatre). Seating is limited because of social-distancing measures and masks are required by all patrons. Other safety measures include thermal temperature scanners upon entrance to the building and sanitation stations in the lobby and restrooms, as well as not serving concessions. We want to do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of the community, while providing an opportunity for them to experience live theatre once again, said Andrew Wallentine, West Valley Arts executive producer.'She Loves Me' follows the relationship of George and Amalia, clerks in a European perfume shop. The two, who dont get along very well, answer a lonely hearts advertisement in the newspaper and anxiously await letters from their respective anonymous correspondents. As time goes on, their relationship evolves, and they start seeing each other in a different light, which makes for some amusing twists and turns along the way to finding out who is on the other end of their beloved letters.Based on the play 'Parfumerie' by Miklos Laszlo, that inspired the movies 'Shop Around the Corner' and 'Youve Got Mail', 'She Loves Me' premiered on Broadway on April 23, 1963 at the Eugene ONeill Theatre and ran for 301 performances. The most recent revival at Studio 54 in 2016 starred Zachary Levi and Laura Benanti in the roles of Georg and Amalia, with supporting cast played by Gavin Creel, Jane Krakowski and Byron Jennings. The musicals book was written by Joe Masteroff, with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.WVAs production stars Addison Welch as Georg Nowack and Kaitlyn Dahl as Amalia Balash, and features Bryan Hague as Steven Kodaly, Meagan Rudd as Ilona Ritter, Michael Hohl as Mr. Maraczek, and Kelly Griffiths as Vladislov Sipos. The entire cast brings this charming show to life, and it is the perfect date night as we get close to Valentines Day, commented the shows director Jennifer Parker Hohl.Hohl is also the productions music director, with choreography by Makenna Hague, costume design by Kelsey Nichols, lighting design by Graham Whipple, sound design by Bryce Robinette, hair and makeup design by Cindy Johnson, set design by James Parker, properties design by Michael Hohl, and production assistance by Seth Larson.Tickets are available online at www.wvcarts.org. Prices are $20 for adults and $15 for youth (ages 5-12). No children under the age of five will be allowed in the theatre.
