The Wilbury Theatre Group has announced Providence's 1st annual fringe festival, FringePVD - to be held July 24-July 27, 2014. The country's newest fringe festival and only such festival in the New England area, FringePVD will bring together more than fifty individual theatre, music, dance, multi-media, and performing artists for four nights of over thirty performances in participating venues throughout Providence.

Modelled after fringe festivals throughout the country aand the famed Edinburgh Fringe Festival, FRINGEPVD brings over 50 performing artists from Providence and the New England to perform at AS220's 95 Empire Black Box Theater, Aurora Providence, The Movement Exchange, URI Providence Campus, and The Wilbury Theatre Group's performance space at the Southside Cultural Center, along with other non-traditional performance spaces and parade routes throughout the city.

"The Providence fringe festival is meant to bring our arts organizations together to provide artists the opportunity to present their work in a way that supports them, as well as the continued growth of Providence as a recognized leader in the arts," said Wilbury Group Artistic Director Josh Short. "In addition, it supports our mission to provide our audiences access to the cutting-edge works at the forefront of American theatre."

Presented by The Wilbury Theatre Group, in collaboration with URI Providence Campus, FringePVD is produced to nurture emerging and established performing artists by presenting fun, fearless and affordable theater to the community and creating ties between artists, audiences, businesses and local organizations, amplifying the vibrancy of Providence as a renowned cultural destination and an unparalleled place to live, work, and visit.

FRINGEPVD is presented by The Wilbury Theatre Group, in collaboration with URI Providence Campus; Participating partners AS220, Aurora Providence, The Movement Exchange, Trinity Repertory Company; Supported in part by a grant from The Providence Tourism Council.

Admissions for all FRINGEPVD productions are determined on a per show basis, with all tickets sold between $5-$10. 100% of all door proceeds go directly to the performing artists.
