Wilbury Group Presents THE FLICK At Cable Car Cinema

The Wilbury Theatre Group presents Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Flick Presented in a site-specific production at the Cable Car Cinema, March 8-25, 2018 PROVIDENCE, RI (February 6, 2018) - The Wilbury Theatre Group proudly announces the Rhode Island premiere of Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Flick, directed by Wendy Overly and presented in a site-specific production at the Cable Car Cinema March 8-25.

The Flick welcomes audiences to a struggling movie theatre in a small New England town, where Sam, Avery and Rose are navigating lives as sticky as the soda under the seats. The movies on the big screen are no match for the tiny battles and not?so?tiny heartbreaks that play out in the empty aisles. Annie Baker (Body Awareness) and Director Wendy Overly reunite with this hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

With this production, the Wilbury Group brings Rhode Island audiences one of America's most celebrated contemporary playwrights. Massachusetts native Annie Baker won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, an OBIE for playwriting, and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for The Flick, her hilarious and heartbreaking play about an indie movie house turning digital right here in New England.
