The board of directors of The Wilbury Theatre Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Stigler as president, effective January 11, 2016.

A professor at the Naval War College in Newport, and frequent actor with theatre companies throughout Rhode Island, Stigler joined The Wilbury Group board in 2011 as one of the founding board members, most recently serving on the fundraising committee. As the newly elected president, he succeeds James Tackach, the board president since the company's first board of directors in 2011.

Outgoing Board President James Tackach, who will continue to serve on the board, commented, "This is an exciting time for The Wilbury Group, and Andrew is just the one to lead the board through the next period of remarkable transition. As a longtime supporter of the arts in Rhode Island,he has always seen the theater as of tremendous benefit to the community, and he has been a strong influence in building The Wilbury Group over the last few years."

Wilbury Group Artistic Director Josh Short added, "On behalf of myself and the rest of the board, we're forever grateful to the leadership that James Tackach has provided us since we first formed our board 4 years ago. He stepped up to lead a brand new organization when no one else would and led us through this period of incredible growth. I look forward to building on Jim's work with Andy to continue to build this organization continuing to grow The Wilbury Group's reputation beyond Providence. Andy's passion for the arts and the work we do here has been evident since he joined our board several years ago and his extraordinary commitment and dedication along with his enthusiasm, professionalism, and leadership ability promise great things for The Wilbury Group and the entire Rhode Island arts community."

Says Stigler, "I'm very excited to have this leadership opportunity with Wilbury's Board of Directors. I vividly remember the first Wilbury production I attended in 2011, The Lieutenant of Innishmore. It was searingly good theater - bracingly acted, brilliantly executed, and damn funny. Wilbury has had so many wonderful and innovative productions in the years since, and has gathered a roster of talented artists who are eager to contribute to the Group's projects. I look forward to working with the Board to further increase our outreach to the community and community partners, to build on the success of FringePVD, and certainly to continue to bring great theater to Providence. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead, and I know I have some incredible shoes to fill in James Tackach's, to whom we are deeply indebted. "
