Trinity Rep Hosts Free Panel Discussion for THE HOW AND THE WHY Tonight

Trinity Rep has announced a free panel discussion tonight, December 3rd at 6pm in the Dowling Theater in conjunction with their latest production, Sarah Treem's The How and the Why. The panel, titled "She Blinded Me With Science: the (r)evolutionary biology and relationships of The How and the Why," will feature notable experts in the field of female evolutionary biology in conversation with The How and the Why's director Shana Gozansky. Panelists and audience members will discuss the controversial themes and scientific theories of the play, as well as the role of gender in the sciences and academia. Admission for the panel is free, but seating is limited. Please RSVP to events@trinityrep.com.

Panelists include Dr. Sandra A. Carson, medical director of Women & Infants' Center for Reproduction and Infertility and director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Women & Infants Hospital, and a professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School oF Brown University; Dr. Sohini Ramachandran, Assistant Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Brown University; Anthropologist Kay Warren, Ph.D, director of the Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women at Brown; and the show's director Shana Gozansky. The event will be moderated by Associate Artistic Director Tyler Dobrowsky. Light refreshments will be provided.

The How and the Why began previews on November 29 at 7:30pm with a First Look Thursday preview performance, featuring a special post-show talkback with the production team and cast.  The production opened last night, December 2 and will run until December 30, 2012.

This panel discussion is made possible through funding support from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, an independent state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
