Bill Hanney's Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) concludes the 2017 summer season with THE PRODUCERS, the Mel Brooks laugh-out-loud spectacle. THE PRODUCERS, runs for a special 4-week engagement starting Wednesday, August 16 and ending Sunday, September 10.

"What better way to end this spectacular season than with the musical that won more Tony® Awards than any other show in history," said Bill Hanney, TBTS owner and producer. "Leave it to my comedy idol, Mel Brooks, to create an outrageous musical featuring tap dancing old ladies, a kick line of German soldiers, and leggy show girls- all on one stage!"

Based on the hit 1968 film of the same name, this Mel Brooks masterpiece chronicles the hilarious adventures of washed-up Broadway producer Max Bialystock and his mild-mannered accountant Leo Bloom, as they scheme to get rich quick by producing the most notorious flop in the history of showbiz. What they don't know is that after all their hard work, the musical ends up being a smash hit! It's a comic tour-de-force that spoofs the big, old-fashioned Broadway musical while paying tribute to it at the same time.

The original score contains such gems as "I Wanna Be A Producer," "When You Got It, Flaunt It," "Springtime for Hitler," and "Prisoners of Love." With a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, THE PRODUCERS will have audiences laughing out loud. This show does contain adult humor and may not be appropriate for all audiences.

The cast of THE PRODUCERS will be led by Joel Briel as the scheming producer, Max Bialystock, and Richard Lafleur as accountant turned producer, Leo Bloom. The cast will also feature Sabrina Harper (Ulla), Liam Johnson (Carmen Ghia), Stuart Marland (Roger DeBris), and Andrew Parks (Franz Liebkind).

The ensemble of THE PRODUCERS includes Karmen Blessing, Ashley Cain, Marie Eife, Hannah Fairman, Julia Feeley, Tasha Heggem, Jeffrey Johnson II, Ryan Koerber, Amy Laviolette, Jimmy Lewis, Keeley McCormick, Matthew Pashley Roland, Tony Pracek, Michael Perrie, Jr., Emma Pittman, and Andrew Tighe.

THE PRODUCERS will be directed and choreographed by original Broadway cast member Brad Musgrove. The creative tem also includes Andrew Smithson (Music Direction), Kyle Dixon (Scenic Design), William Ivey Long (Original Costume Design), Jose Santiago (Lighting Design), Danny Erdberg (Sound Design), Michael Dates (Wig & Hair Design), Kate L. Ferdinandi (Production Stage Manager), and Sara Sheets (Assistant Stage Manager). Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is produced for Theatre By The Sea by Bill Hanney (Owner/Producer), Kevin P. Hill (Producing Artistic Director), and Thom Warren (Associate Producer).

THE PRODUCERS runs August 16 thru September 10. Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays. Performance times vary week to week, check the TBTS website for exact dates and show times. Tickets are $46 - $72. Tickets are available to purchase by phone (401) 782-8587, online at theatrebythesea.com, or in person at 364 Cards Pond Road, Wakefield, RI 02879.

Theatre By The Sea continues its popular Friday morning Children's Festival in 2017. Shows include Rapunzel (August 4), and Keith Michael Johnson's Bubbleology (August 11). All shows at 10am & 12 Noon and all tickets are $12.
