Taj Mahal, Poppy Champlin Coming to EG Odeum in April

By: Mar. 20, 2015

This April the Greenwich Odeum is proud to present internationally known stand-up comedian Poppy Champlin and Grammy Award-winning blues musician Taj Mahal.

Poppy Champlin comes to The Odeum on Saturday, April 18 at 8 p.m. Champlin has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, LOGO, VH1, A&E and Showtime. She's also opened for comics like Ray Romano, Bill Maher and Rosie O'Donnell. Champlin is no stranger to Rhode Island -- she earned her BFA in Theater from the University of Rhode Island.

Currently, Champlin can be seen performing her comedy in the HBO Documentary "All Aboard Rosie's Family Vacation."

General admission tickets for Poppy Champlin are $22.

On Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m., The Odeum welcomes one of the most prominent and influential figures in late 20th century blues and roots music: Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal's music has nearly singlehandedly reshaped the definition and scope of the blues via the infusion of exotic sounds from the Caribbean, Africa and South Pacific. The two-time Grammy winning singer, songwriter, film composer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist was feted with the Lifetime Achievement for Performance Award at the 13th Annual Americana Honors and Awards last fall.

Over the course of his colorful career, Taj Mahal has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards.

Tickets for the Taj Mahal Trio range in price from $50-70.

For tickets and information, visit www.theodeum.org, call 401-885-4000 or visit greenwichodeum@gmail.com. Same day ticket sales are welcome, but ticket availability is limited, and some performances may sell out.

Tickets can also be purchased at our box office partner, Main Street Music, at 4 King Street in East Greenwich from Noon to 6 p.m. Mon-Fri.
