In a dimly lit kitchen in a shabby co ttage in a backwater village in the west of Ireland, selfish, conniving Mag and her embitt ered 40-year-old virginal daughter, Maureen, stew in mutual loathing. When Maureen is offered a last chance at love, Mag has other ideas, sett ing in motion a chain of betrayals and tragedy both heartbreaking and hilarious.
