Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, returns to PPAC just in time for the holiday season! Performances begin on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 and run through Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence.

J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center, said, "It's great to have MAMMA MIA! back at PPAC this season; it's going to be a really fun show to ring in the New Year with. I'd also like to welcome Coastway Community Bank as a sponsor of MAMMA MIA! They sponsored YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN last season and we're very pleased to be continuing and strengthening our relationship with Coastway."

Bill White, President and CEO of Coastway, said, "MAMMA MIA! is a Rhode Island favorite and a very entertaining, feel-good show. We're really happy to be sponsoring MAMMA MIA! and we are looking forward to working with PPAC during this fantastic season."

Seen by over 42 million people around the world, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! is celebrating seven sold-out years at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway, and is currently playing a record-breaking engagement on its National Tour in the United States. The originAl West End production has played more than 4,000 performances, an international tour has played in more than 40 foreign cities, and the blockbuster feature film adaptation, produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, is the most successful movie musical of all time grossing $600 million worldwide.

Donna, an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends-practical and no-nonsense Rosie and wealthy, multi-divorcée Tanya - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.

Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA's songs from "Dancing Queen" and "S.O.S." to "Money, Money, Money" and "Take a Chance on Me," MAMMA MIA! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new family found.
The performance schedule for MAMMA MIA! at the Providence Performing Arts Center is Tuesday, December 28 at 7P; Wednesday, December 29 and Thursday, December 30 at 7:30P; Friday, December 31 at 8P; Saturday, January 1 at 2P & 8P; and Sunday, January 2 at 1P & 6:30P.
