For the first time in New England, Little Mermaid splashes onto the stage in a live action ballet spectacle by Festival Ballet Providence (FBP). The classic fairytale takes you on a bubbly adventure under the sea with imaginative choreography by Charlotte Ballet¹s Mark Diamond and a colorful cast of dancing characters. The Rhode Island premiere makes its debut in Providence April 27-29, 2018 at The Vets.

Creating a coral reef¹s worth of tropical underwater life is no small feat. Constructed in partnership with the University of North Carolina Arts & Architecture Program and Charlotte Ballet, intricate costuming for Little Mermaid features cutting edge technology including details that have been specially designed, 3D printed, and incorporated into certain pieces. The vibrant, transformative sets also feature a bit of magic, but that is something you will need to see to believe!

Incorporating aspects from the original Hans Christian Anderson story in tandem with the popular Disney version, Mark Diamond¹s Little Mermaid is rollicking fun for the whole family. The cast includes 50 children from the Festival Ballet Providence School, showcasing the talent of Rhode Island¹s young dancers. ³Giving students the opportunity to perform with the professional company takes their training to the next level,² FBP Artistic Director Mihailo Djuric says, adding, ³Little Mermaid is like a gift our family to yours.²
