Epic Theater Company has announced it's 2016 Summer Season. In the spirit of its annual Summer Spectacular, we'll be presenting two shows that celebrate the hottest months of the year with "The Summer of Sex."

"People have always remarked on how many of our shows deal with sexuality," said Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli, "Instead of shying away from that, we're going to double down on it. These two shows are going to be the wildest, most outrageous productions we've ever put on, and if you've seen our past shows, you know that's saying something."

The first show is in the tradition of Broccoli's annual monologue shows, which he retired last year. It's a big project with a cast of over fifty people and multiple directors that he's calling "The Bedroom Plays."

"We really want to play with how far you can take an audience before they tap out," says Broccoli. "We had people walk out of a show last summer because it was too racy. Rather than say, 'Let's make sure that never happens again,' I thought, how can we make even more people run for the exits? But in a fun way--sort of make a game out of it.'"

Audiences will be presented with ten plays--each progressively getting racier and racier. After each short play, the audience will be given a chance to exit. Audience members who stay for all ten plays will receive a special surprise.

The August production welcomes back the cast and crew from last summer's "The Boys of St. Matthew's Present Tartuffe."

"Tartuffe was one of our biggest hits," Broccoli remarks, "Audiences just loved it. So we thought we'd bring the boys back and give them a new show to take on. I've wanted to tackle Les Liaisones Dangereuses for years so this seemed like the perfect opportunity."

Broccoli promises that even though the concept will be similar to last year's show, there will be plenty of new twists and turns.

"We're sending the boys to Europe, where they're going to meet some new students, and inevitably get into even more trouble."

Epic's calling their edgy double-hander "The Summer Sex."

"After all," says Broccoli, "Why beat around the bush?"

JULY 2016

THE BEDROOM PLAYS by Kevin Broccoli

We may have retired our summer spectacular, but that doesn't mean we've given up on big, bold storytelling. In fact, this might be one of the wildest projects we've ever taken on. We'll be presenting ten plays set in a bedroom. Each play has elements to it that might offend some of our more conservative audience members. So after each play, we'll give you a chance to bail, with the understanding that each play gets progressively racier. If you stay for all ten plays, you win a prize--or just bragging rights. We haven't crunch the numbers yet. The first play is a monologue, the second is a two-hander, and it all leads up to a ten-person sexual circus that'll have you wondering if we're actually allowed to be doing any of this onstage. We're going to find out if you can ?#‎MakeItToTen?

AUGUST 2016

THE BOYS OF ST. MATTHEW'S PRESENT 'LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES'

Based on the Novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclo

The Boys are Back. And they're summering in Europe, where they've taken their brand new adaptation of the world's raciest novel to a prestigious high school drama festival. When the festival bans the production based on its inappropriate content, the boys take matters into their own hands. It's going to be an international incident of Epic proportions.
