Theatre Review: Monty Python’s Spamalot
First and foremost, what a cast! Many of the actors play multiple roles in the show. Chris Collins-Pisano was amazing, especially in his roles as The French Taunter and Sir Lancelot, both with starkly different characterizations, but both earning huge laughs from the audience. His performances in “Run Away” as The French Taunter was hilarious, but his physical comedy in “His Name is Lancelot” truly showcased his comedic range.
Review: Stereophonic at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre
Admittedly, I am not a person who identifies as a fan of plays, as I tend to favor Musical Theater, and I struggled a bit with Stereophonic. The music, written by Will Butler, formerly of indie rock band Arcade Fire was fantastic—when we got to hear it. Such a concept felt that it should have lent to having more music; despite being labeled a play and not a musical, this could be attributed to personal preference.
Theatre Review: CLUE Live on Stage
This performance was fantastic! The entire production is a farcical comedy, with characters running in and out of rooms, and running in place to convey movement. With the characters having such over-the-top personalities, it was important that they be well-cast, and boy were they. The standout performances in terms of comedic timing and physicality were Mark Price (Wadsworth) and John Shartzer (Mr. Green)—each of them had me laughing until I almost cried.
