Helena kan niet slapen, want morgen is de grote dag. Een half leven lang heeft ze nodig gehad om de kracht te vinden op zichzelf te staan en nu staat ze voor de laatste stap: de geslachtsverandering. Dan wordt Klaus eindelijk Helena. In de nacht voor de laatste operatie, in gesprek met de nachtzuster, komen de herinneringen aan haar verleden voorbij. Al heel jong wist ze dat ze zich niet als die andere jongens voelde. Maar de maatschappij geeft aan wat ‘normaal’ is. Dus Klaus paste zich aan: hij trouwde en kreeg twee kinderen. Maar als zijn echtgenote een ‘Gender Bender Party’ organiseert, verandert zijn hele leven.
